Welcome to my page on my astrohobby

My name is Dominik Wos and I live in a small town near Warsaw. I have been in astronomy and astrophotography for some long and short time I can say. The universe has always been fascinating me with its greatness and beauty but my dreams on having a telescope were satisfied in May 2003 and from this time I really started my adventure with astronomy. Currently I own some equipment, in particular for astrophotography and more about it you can find in "My equipment" in the menu on the left side of this page.

I would suggest that if you are starting in the hobby please read aricles and information on astronomy a lot of which you can find out in internet for example (see also "Links" in the menu) as well as making a contact with someone, who lives close to you and has some experience in astronomy. It would allow you to avoid some basic mistakes in purchasing equipment, as the equipment in my opinion is crutial for sourcing maximum satisfacion from this beautiful and extremely interesting hobby. Talking about adequate equipment I mean of course this which will allow you to gather some experience (it dos not have to be of the highest level) but should not be bought in a supermarket store and advertised aswith maximum magnification of x525, or as one of Polish manufacturers x1000 (!!!) if the client wants to have such a magnification :-).
There also have been some opinions that you should start with binoculars, which would allow you to get familiar with the sky, some knowlege on constelations and wide field deap sky objects. But in my opinion it is not a proper way for buying equipment as for me binoculars are something additional to telescope but not its alternative. I am talking for example about observig planets, which require using a telescope and images of which in proper seeing conditions - (stable and clear atmosphere) simply can stop or accelerate your heartbeat.

I would also like to thank my family, who has a unique patience to my hobby and supports me with my fight to get more experience in astronomy and astrophotograpy.
Only three girls plus she-dog so I am outnumbered :-)
