My equipment ¤ Takahashi Mewlon 180 (not with me any more).

The scope is manufactured by Takahashi - a Japanese telescope and equipment manufacturer famous for its high quality products. The finish of my Mewlon of course confirms this opinion.

The scope comes with 50mm finder scope, which should be also used as a handle for transporting the scope. The finder's mounting to the scope is so firm and accurate that after half a year of using it is still well collimated.
My Mewlon is additionally equipped with original focuser, which is installed on the back side of the scope (see pictures below). It is important from this end that in Cassegrain design scopes, focusing is made with movable primary mirror. It may cause so called "image shift".
Separate focuser enables to get rid of this problem.
The baby Mewlon is an excellent easy transportable planetary scope but is a good option for some deep sky astrophotography too. |
